Hip & Knee Replacement
Magnolia Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic physicians have performed thousands of total hip and knee replacement surgeries utilizing state-of-the-art techniques. While all surgeries involve risks, most patients requiring surgery experience less pain and increased mobility after the procedure.
Joint degeneration may stem from a number of causes including trauma, congenital conditions, arthritic conditions and other causes.
Hip Replacement Surgery
Hip Replacement surgery involves removing the femoral head (the end of the bone connected to the pelvis), replacing it with a composite metal and plastic rod and ball, and inserting a composite cup into the hip socket of the pelvis.

Knee Replacement Surgery
Knee Replacement surgery involves removing the diseased surfaces of the arthritic knee and replacing these surfaces with artificial components. This may include the undersurface of the knee cap, but frequently it does not. A cobalt-chromium metal component that has the general shape of the upper knee surface is tightly fit to the upper portion of the knee. The lower knee surface is replaced with a metal-backed plastic surface that articulates with the smooth metal surface of the upper component and acts as a new joint surface.
